Who is eligible for testing?

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) now allows testing for anyone with COVID-like symptoms, illness or risk factors without a doctor’s order. Testing is also available for those with or without symptoms who work in a healthcare facility, jails or prisons, first responders (paramedics, emergency medical technicians, law enforcement, firefighters) and/or support critical infrastructure (grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants, gas stations, public utilities, factories, childcare and sanitation).

How to get tested

SIH asks individuals to call the SIH COVID-19 Hotline at 844-988-7800 to speak with a medical professional about your risk and/or symptoms and reserve a time for your desired test at either of our Drive Through Testing Clinics.

SIH staff wearing personal protective equipment will perform specimen collection, or nasal swabs, for COVID-19, flu and other respiratory illnesses through the driver's side or passenger side window. Patients will not have to leave their cars.

Once you receive testing

Samples are sent to a third-party lab for testing results and typically takes 2-3 days to process (but can take up to a week in some cases). After testing, you will receive a phone call for both positive and negative results.
