High Risk Clinic

When you turn the Big 4-0, that’s when The American Cancer Society recommends you start getting regular mammograms. A mammogram, which only takes about 10 minutes, is a screening tool to detect breast cancer.

However, even if you’re in your twenties or thirties, you might be at risk for breast cancer, based on your personal or family history of cancer or positive genetic test results. If that sounds like you, we know you want answers. That’s why the SIH Breast Cancer High Risk Clinic is here to help.

At SIH Breast Cancer High Risk Clinic, we’ll review your family history of cancer, explore genetic risk assessments and talk to you about breast imaging options. We know that early detection is key, so we’ll also help you develop a treatment plan of what you can start doing today to lower your risk of developing breast cancer.

You might benefit from making an appointment at SIH Breast Cancer High Risk Clinic if you fall into one of the following categories:

  • Direct family history: You have a personal history or a maternal or paternal relative diagnosed with breast cancer.
  • Genetics: Through genetic testing, you found out you’re a carrier of BRCA1 or BRCA2.
  • Breast lesions: You’ve had a previous breast biopsy with atypical hyperplasia (abnormal cells in the breast).
  • Heritage: You’re of Eastern and Central European Jewish descent.
