Trauma Center at SIH Memorial Hospital of Carbondale
In 2019, SIH Memorial Hospital of Carbondale received designation as a Level II Trauma Center. The hospital is now equipped and staffed to provide specialized care to victims of major traumatic injuries, such as a long fall or a farming accident. But a trauma center is not just a place for treatment – it is a comprehensive service that starts at the moment of injury and doesn’t end until the patient returns to pre-injury function, or as close to it as possible. It also includes preventative components:
- Community outreach
- EMS education and collaboration
- Rehab partnership
- Advanced surgical care
- Modern delivery of surgical services (Acute Care Surgery)
Grateful Patient & Family Giving Program
The SIH Grateful Patient & Family Giving Program provides patients, former patients and their families an opportunity to give back to honor those who so compassionately cared for them during their time of greatest need and to acknowledge the facility that provided outstanding care. Upon receipt of your special gift, we will send a card of appreciation to the facility and/or healthcare professional(s) you have recognized. The names of the facility and caregiver(s) will also be listed in select SIH publications. The amount of the gift is not disclosed and you may remain anonymous if you choose. Your gift will allow us to maintain state-of-the-art facilities and equipment and will provide direct patient support and services to those with the greatest need. Naming opportunities may be available.
